Captain Fantastic was founded in 2010 by actor and performer Tommy Balaam. What began as a side project quickly grew into a mission: to bring joy, excitement, and unforgettable memories to children and families everywhere.
From the very beginning, people have been at the heart of the journey. Tommy’s drama school friend Scott Hunt became the very first entertainer — and he’s still with the company today. Another close friend, Ricky Fox, helped develop the disco shows and later became a partner in the business. After many years shaping the company, Ricky moved on in 2022 topursue his passion for dance, and the team remains proud of everything he’s gone on to achieve.
Behind the scenes, Lisa — the first member of the admin team — played a huge role in shaping Captain Fantastic’s early years. Not only was she a brilliant entertainer, but she also helped create the first Captain Fantastic theatre show, bringing energy, creativity, and structure at such a crucial time.
Looking to the future, Kris Mitchell stands out as another key figure. Kris became the very first franchisee in Kent and played a huge role in developing Captain Fantastic’s school programs. Today, he is a key partner in helping grow the company in the USA.
Over the years, Captain Fantastic has grown from a single character in London to one of the UK’s leading names in children’s entertainment. Now, that same energy and creativity has arrived in the USA — starting in Los Angeles.
Since launching in LA, Captain Fantastic has already delivered over 200 parties, each one earning glowing reviews from families who loved the fun, energy, and unforgettable experiences. This success is only the beginning. With plans to expand state by state, the vision is for Captain Fantastic to become the household name for children’s entertainment across America.
